Chokko the dragon, flying above the ocean at sunset. Far in the distance he sees something that causes his spikes to bristle. The battle is about to begin.
Chokko is young by dragon standards, less than 100 years old. He has one friend - a young girl named Deedee (see [link]).
Together they stave off the loneliness that comes with always being on the run. Together they hope to someday find a place they can call home.
This was rendered in 3d in Poser Pro 2010 using Millennium Dragon 2.0 and composited over top of a sunset photo I took from the side of the highway while on vacation in British Columbia, Canada a few years ago. In the distance are the gulf islands as viewed from the mainland on the way to Whistler. Very little postwork has been done apart from tinting his eyes green and colour correction.
This is work in progress for a fantasy RPG game I am programming which is tentatively titled "Familiars Guild".
I would be most grateful to receive any comments or encouragement.
Thank you for the kind words! The background is from a photo I took while on vacation, and the dragon is a 3d rendering I made using Poser Pro 2010 - took a couple hours to render on my computer. I'm using a special light setup with ambient occlusion shadowing as well as bump maps and specularity maps on the dragon texture. The dragon model is a pose-able model that you can purchase online - so although no stock images were used, the 3d mesh is available to any artist who wants to buy it for own renderings. I just posed it, chose a camera angle I liked, set up a bunch of warm lights that matched the background colours and set up a 3d render with a transparent background. Once the render was done I composited the foreground and background in photoshop.
This is really epic and I like the pose! It would be cool to see him in action. So since you made him can you make him move into any pose? It would be cool to be able to play around with this and make him do whatever you want! I bet programming is a lot of fun.
I love his pose
